Carlo Boutagy has been at the forefront of developing Formula One outdoor experiences and other high value properties away from the racetrack for more than a decade.
In 2008, Carlo founded F1 FanZone, providing the world’s largest, most diverse and exciting outdoor experience for F1 fans. Canadian-born of Lebanese origin, he came up with this brilliant idea while studying economics at Concordia University in Montreal. He wanted the fans and kids to get closer to the F1 hub and have a taste of what it’s like to be part of an F1 team or to be a driver. In the FanZone, they could play in F1 simulators, enjoy live entertainment, practice a pit-stop challenge, take pictures of legendary cars, get autographs from F1 drivers, listen to interviews from motorsport icons, and buy souvenirs from merchandising booths. FanZone would also display giant screens to show the practice sessions, qualifying and the race itself.
In 2018, after conceiving the F1 FanZone city centre events for a decade, Carlo’s business CBX has expanded into other major sports such as tennis, golf and boxing and become the exclusive promoter of Formula E in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In December 2018, by combining the best talent locally in Saudi Arabia with international experts in motorsport, and with the full endorsement and support of the Formula E series, competitors and community, Carlo and his team made history organising the first ever Formula E race in the Kingdom. This event opened the Kingdom’s doors to international visitors and staged the country’s first international concerts.
